Skincare Favourites 2014/ Skincare Routine

2014 has been absolutely bloody glorious for my skin (touchwood!)! Gone are the days of having a face full of hormone fuelled cystic breakouts. Don't get me wrong, my skin is far from perfect but it's a damn sight better than it was this time last year and I really owe that to this little collection of products. I've found that committing to a strict and consistent skincare routine has done absolute wonders for me and now I simply can't rest at night without knowing that my skin has had a good seeing to (pause for laughs from those dirty minded folk). Of course I've tried introducing different options into my routine, I am a beauty blogger after all, but this is the absolute creme de la creme (as they say). Little bit of skin history for ya, I am the ultimate in combination. I'm talking oily t-zone, dry nose, sensitive cheeks and prone to dehydration. I know, poor me.

I start my super simple morning routine with the Oskia Renaissance Cleansing Gel, which I have found to be THE best cleanser that I have ever had the pleasure of smothering all over my face. THE BEST EVER. It's extremely gentle on my occasionally sensitive skin, yet gives my skin a real good cleanse and removes any remnants of last nights makeup. My skin always look noticeably clearer and brighter every time I use it. Can you tell that I love it? I also use this as my evening cleanser. Once again, BEST EVER! My morning moisturiser is the La Roche Posay Effaclar Mat. It creates an amazing base for makeup and helps keep my shiny forehead at bay. What more could I want ay? Now the only part of my skincare routine that is lacking a star is eye cream, I've just not found the one. If you have any recommendations then please keep them coming.

So evenings are where I really go to town! I always start out with the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. Which in my opinion, is just as good as Bioderma at a fraction of the price. This and a couple of cotton pads later and I'm looking facially naked. I then of course follow it up with THE BEST cleanser, as mentioned above. Once I'm feeling clean and as fresh as a daisy, I give my skin a generous slick of the Pixi Glow Tonic.  Now this is one that you have to be really persistent with, it doesn't perform miracles overnight, but trust me give it time. I've found that it reduces blemishes, redness and improves skin texture. So yeah, don't give up on it a couple of uses in or you won't reap the benefits. If I'm feeling fancy, I'll have a quick spritz of the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist. A gorgeous and luxurious products with an equally pleasing scent. So now I'm cleansed and toned, now I want to inject some serious moisture back into my skin. Ive found the best way of tackling my oily skin is to hydrate it, which sounds insane but it seriously works. my favourite products to do this are the Origins High Potency Night-A-Mins and the Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial. Both products have an instant result of dramatically smoother and more hydrated skin.

Finally, we have a mask. Once a week I like to give my skin that extra bit of pampering and 2014 was definitely the year of the Glam Glow Supermud mask. If I've stayed up past my usual 10pm curfew and had a couple of glasses of wine, my skin can be left feeling a little congested and this bad boy brings it right back round to normality. Again, another product that gives amazing instant results.

My New Brow Hero: Billion Dollar Brow Powder

Over the years I've had some real troubling times with my eyebrows. One minute they're bearly noticeable and the next I'm looking like a Yeti. I know some of you out there will feel my pain. It happens to the best of us, right? 2014 was the year that I decided to take a stance against my unruly slugs and went on a serious hunt for the best brow products out there. Sorry Sarah, this is the main reason that we're friends! I used you for your brow secrets, you must be used to that by now though! I went through the whole roster, from powder to regular eyeshadow to gel to pencils. If it exists, it's been on my brows!

Now I really did save the best until last with this one. After seeing every blogger and their Grandma raving about Billion Dollar Brows, I decided to take the plunge and put in an order. Let's face it, it was only a matter of time. After a quick google swatch sesh, I decided on the brow powder in the shade taupe and it couldn't be a better match. I try not to have too many expectations when it comes to majorly hyped products, purely to avoid disappointment, but this little beauty lived up to every ounce of the hype! It has the perfect amount of ashy tone which enables me to create a natural yet perfectly sculpted brow with great ease and trust me, I'm no expert. I've found that paired with a decent brow gel, it lasts all day.

I know what you're all thinking, is there a downside? Being perfectly honest, I really can't think of one. I couldn't really recommend this product enough, I challenge anyone to be disappointed with it. I can't wait to try some more of their products.

Can't say no to a bargain!

Selfridges ay? It's one of my favourite places to shop, both in store and online. So when the post Christmas sales kicked off, I hit Selfridges and believe me, I hit it hard! I popped into the Birmingham store the day after Boxing Day and picked up some pretty amazing bits and bobs (TF Lips & Boys!!! Mainly influenced by the lovely Liz). However, today is all about what I picked up from the comfort of my own bed while watching Gossip Girl on Netflix and consuming my body weight in Terry's Chocolate Orange.

I rarely venture over to the Mac counter purely because I can't stand the crowds, it's absolutely bonkers! So with the ease of shopping online mixed with the sales, I just couldn't resist. Rose popped up a picture of the Mac warm neutrals pallete on Instagram and I knew there and then that it had to be mine! I've considered it for a while, so I didn't really take that much convincing to be perfectly honest. It was already an absolute bargain at £65 but at £58.50 I felt like it was daylight robbery! 15 Mac eyeshadows for £3.90 each??? How? I was worried that Mac might have sacrificed the quality when selecting the shades for the palette, but I must say that I am seriously impressed. They are all absolutely gorgeous and right up my street. It has everything you need to create a simple day look or a dramatic smokey eye. Everyones a winner with this crowd pleaser! Now, I hope your all sitting down for this one. Until now, I have never owned an MSF. I know, crazy right? So I decided to pick up the infamous Soft and Gentle. It is so frigging pretty, I could die! At £20.70, it wasn't exactly the bargain of the century but every little helps. I'm really impressed with the lasting power of this little beauty, it's still lingering on my face at the end of a very long day. The subtle golden glow adds life to my pale winter stricken complexion and believe me, it takes a lot.

In the short(ish) space of time that I've known Stacey, her beauty recommendations have cost me a small fortune. She has been raving about the Trish McEvoy 24 hour eyeshadow and liner for an absolute age, so I decided to cheat on my beloved ByTerry Ombre Blackstars and pick a couple up. I chose Smokey Quartz which is a plum shade and Topaz which is a bronze/brown. Both are full of shimmer, yet so smooth and easy to blend. Now I've not used them enough yet to stick the ByTerry's to the back of the drawer, but I must say that I am impressed. The colour, pigmentation and last power are all pretty spectacular, so stay tuned for a more in-depth review.
