OTT on the toiletries

Last week was spent in gorgeous Somerset. As a known over-packer, my friends warned me to not go overboard. Believe me this was no easy feat! Everytime I took something out, I put two things in. After a lot of consideration and willpower, this is what I ended up with.

L'Oreal Ever Riche shampoo and conditioner- The most perfect affordable deep conditioning duo I've ever tried. This has been a firm favourite since it's release. Such a gorgeous scent too.

Kerastase Nectar Thermique- A heat protection blow dry lotion that gives my hair a lovely smooth finish. Kerastase is my ultimate hair luxury, such a treat.

Batiste dry shampoo- Representing the lazy girls.

Vaseline Spray and Go- It's not the most moisturising thing that I have ever used but props for the ease!

Wilko shower gel in rhubarb and vanilla- Pretty self explanatory really, but that scent... it's what dreams are made of. It smells just like rhubarb and custard sweets. It smells good enough to eat, believe me I've been tempted from time to time.

Origins Drink Up mask- One of my holy grail face masks right here boys and girls. A moisturising mask is a must for me when on holiday, as the sun can be quite harsh on your skin so an extra boost of moistrue never goes a miss.

Garnier micellar water- I always like to remove the bulk of my makeup with a micellar water before doing a proper cleanse, or my skin has a full on freak out. This is a decent Bioderma dupe.

Clarins Take The Day Off cleansing oil- This my new fave. It's relatively new and trust me when I tell you that you need it! I bloomin' love a cleansing oil and this is a fantastic offering. It leaves the skin completely cleansed without feeling stripped and tight. I popped 5 days worth into a travel size squirty bottle thingy ma jig.

Clarins Lotus oil- My SOS product, I couldn't live without it. Everytime I have a skin nightmare, this saves me and banishes all those pesky blemishes.

Clarins Gentle Exfoliating toner- This is highly raved about and rightly so. It is great for evening out skin tone, texture and helps reduce the size of blemishes. What more could you want?

La Roche Posay Toleriane- This is such a lovely simple moisturiser that can be used both morning and night.

Kiehls Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado- I have been using this since the beginning of July and I am already noticing a huge difference. It's a nice compromise between a gel and a thick cream, perfect for summer.

Nuxe Reve De Miel- Best lip balm ever...SIMPLE.

Razor- Yanno, just cuz.

What are your travel essentials?

No longer 22 :(

Just a quickie today. I turned 23 yesterday, old I know! I just wanted to thank everyone that sent me birthday wishes on Twitter and Instagram. I feel so lucky to have met so many lovely people through blogging, plus the people that I am yet to meet. You're all pretty special.

I had more of a birthday-week than a day! Most of you will know that I spent last week in gorgeous Somerset with two of my best friends (post to come), I went out on Friday night to a comedy club with people from work, I went shopping in Birmingham on Saturday. I then had a family BBQ on the night and Sunday was spent cheering on some of my family who took part in a charity dragon boat race. Busy I know, I could do with another holiday!

Just as I thought it was all over, I came into work today to more cards and gifts. I felt so loved already, then they made it even better by getting me the most amazing cake I've ever had! It's a makeup lovers dream. (picture below)

Also, I just wanted to congratulate the lovely Amy for winning my birthday giveaway. I couldn't have asked for a better result. I cant wait to help her pick a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick when we attend a Lancome event together next week. A lovely girl with an equally lovely blog, make sure you check her out if you haven't already.

Summer Lovin

Happy Friday! I'm off to Somerset with two of my best friends tomorrow, what bliss :) I hope you've all got a good weekend coming up too.

Ever since starting my blog in January, I have been lucky enough to get to know some of the nicest people I have ever spoken to. Some people who don't know the blogging world might think that it's a little strange to become friends with someone that you met on the internet, no I'm not online dating Nan! I've had some tough times this year, my blogger friends are always there to lend a virtual shoulder to cry on or encouraging words. I am going to do a few of these posts so get ready for some serious cheesy lovin!

My soul sister. You know when you meet someone and immediately click, yeah that was me and Sarah. We have met up a few times now and I love her more than ever. She's absolutely hilarious, her twitter feed is full of side splitting comments, perverted remarks and the creepy man with moustache emoji. And her blog, jeeeeez talk about good taste. Just call her Mrs Ford, her and Tom are forever. Do I really need to mention her eyebrows? I thought not, teach me!

I don't quite know where to start when it comes to Char. She is one of my very first blogger friends, along with Megan. She is possibly the strongest and sweetest person I have ever met. She manages to work, take care of her twins and run a great blog. What a hero! I sometimes struggle to get a post up and I'm childless, Netflix is by baby. Char is one of my biggest supporters and the retweet queen, she is always the first to help anyone. Love her!

Megan- http://www.student-stylexo.co.uk/ Oh Megan, you little gem! There are only a handful of people that you can have a three day running joke with, shes absolutely hysterical. As I said before, she's one of my first blogger friends and I can't have asked for a nicer girl. Her blog is so personal, you can really get a sense of Megan. Please make sure you see me again soon, I miss you!

Vanessa-http://www.theothervw.com/ I think we're twins. Obviously not identical, I mean look at her! She is absolutely gorgeous. I met her at meetup in June and it was love at first sight. We bonded over all things beauty and a cheeky accidental boob graze. Since then she invited me to a blogger event with Lancome and I couldn't have had a better time. Ok so now that I've confessed my love for her, I better tell you a little about her blog. She is a makeup artist so her posts are as impeccable as her taste. I am dying for her to make me look less like a zombie! Maybe one day :)

A dream day

I am going to try to refrain from turning into a total fangirl, but a few weeks ago I got an email from Rose. I have been following her blog for so long and I was also was obsessed with the Youtube videos that she made when working for Illamasqua. She is now working as the personal beauty shopper in Selfridges Birmingham. We've chatted on Twitter for a while and when Rose found out I was Midlands based, she invited me in store for the personal shopping experience. As soon as I saw the email, I jumped at the chance and of course took along one of my blogging besties Sarah.

With an incredible amount of excitement and anticipation, Sarah and I headed to Selfridges (my place of worship). We met Rose at the Illamasqua counter and instantly felt at ease. She is one of the people I've met through blogging. She is hilarious, down to earth and oh my god does she know her stuff! We were laughing the whole way round the beauty hall, it honestly just felt like shopping with a friend. You might think that she would try to get you to buy as much as possible, but she truly puts no pressure on you at all. We went from counter to counter for hours, Rose pointed out her favourites from each brand and we also gave her a few recommendations. We are bloggers after all! I made a 'few' naughty purchases, trust me I didn't need any encouraging either. My favourite purchase of the day is without a doubt the Tom Ford quad in Cocoa Mirage. It's absolute perfection. We also had a sniff sesh with the new Tom Ford scents, what a dream! I am so in love with the renovated beauty hall, there is so much to choose from which can get a bit dangerous for the old bank balance. It's nice to see brands that you cant get at your local stores such as RMK, Shu Uemura and Charlotte Tilbury.

I highly recommend going to see Rose whether you're a blogger or just a general beauty lover. You can contact her on rose.gallagher@selfridges.co.uk or 07984 807 878. The service is £30, which is fully redeemable on anything bought on the day. It is also available with Armand Beasley in Selfridges Manchester Exchange Square.

Birthday Giveaway

Hello you lovely lot!
I’m old! I turn 23 on the 27th July.  I wanted to do a giveaway when I reached 100 Bloglovin but I was really busy at the time, so it just passed by. I thought this would be a good time to thank everyone that reads my blog and thank you all for being so supportive. I started my blog in January simply because I was so addicted to makeup that I needed to justify my excessive stash! I didn’t expect to love it so much, but I really do. So yeah let’s get onto what I am giving away. I didn’t want to give away a box full of affordable stuff that I just don’t use, so instead I have picked two lovely slightly more expensive items that I love! I am giving away a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick of your choice and a Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Oil. It will end at midnight on Saturday 26th July and the winner will be announced on twitter on Sunday 27th.

A New Nude

I've followed Charlotte Tilbury's career for years, even before I began reading blogs. I mean, what a bloody goddess. Her talent is beyond incredible and so is her makeup line. I've tried a few bits 'n' bobs and been more than impressed. Vintage Vamp palette, enough said. I am obsessed with the way that She has created her collection, it's kind of like paint by numbers for the face. Does that make sense? Just go with it anyway. There's no more 'what eyeshadow shall I wear with this lipstick?', she's got it all figured out!

What I want to show you today is my new perfect nude lip. I attended a blogger event with Lancôme in Birmingham a couple of weeks ago and as per usual, I arrived over an hour early. There's only so much time that you can spend in Starbucks, so I took a stroll into Selfridges and felt a magnetic pull to the CT counter. I was having a browse and got asked the usual 'do you need any help?', I usually say no but being quite new to the brand I wanted an expert opinion. I was helped by the lovely Isabel (picture below, gorgeous isn't she!). She asked me what I was missing in my collection and let's face it, if I was being honest with myself I would've said that I was missing nothing as I have 362047 lipsticks. Me being me I had in my head that I didn't have a great nude. From that point on Isabel and I chatted for about half an hour discussing my blog, all whilst performing a lip miracle. They say that to create the perfect lip you need a liner, a lipstick and a gloss. I seriously agree. I've not got the fullest lips but she managed to give me a proper pout. I couldn't have whipped out my purse quick enough.

She started with the lip cheat in Iconic Nude. The texture of this is incredible, it's so soft yet long lasting and the pigmentation is seriously impressive. Then came the lipstick in Nude Kate. Literally the perfect nude lipstick ever! I think overall this is the star of the show. She topped it with the lip lustre in Blondie. I'm not really a gloss kinda girl but it just livened up the look. It's a big claim but this is the perfect nude combination! It works for so many skin tones too. I used the three products when doing my friend Jazz's makeup and she's a lot darker than I. She looked phenomenal, I think she's a bit tempted to make a purchase now.

If you want to learn more about the brand then I strongly advise that you to go to a counter, everyone that I have ever been served by has been super friendly and helpful. No snobbery which you can get at some counters. They are really passionate about the brand and are incredibly talented. Isabel also gave me a couple of light wonder foundation samples and my god is it incredible! It's definitely next on my purchase list.

Please excuse my horrendous skin in the creepy close up, my skin is having a mare!

Summer Must Haves: Lip Edition

I think this is the longest I've gone without putting up a post since I started my blog, so apologies. A couple of weeks ago I put up my summer blush must haves, today I bring you the lippy edition. Do I have a ridiculous amount of lip options? Yes, but I need them. God dammit, I NEED THEM OK! Anyway, let's talk about some pretty lipsticks.

MAC Hue- This pinky-nude is perfect for those days where you go a little heavier on the eyes or you like a more minimal look. It has a nice glossy yet pigmented finish, it feels so comfortable to wear. The pigmentation is pretty impressive too, it's definitely buildable. A great one to try if you are just getting into Mac lipsticks.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Pink Pong- I cannot get enough of this range! I say dont shy away from mattes just because its summer, embrace it. Whack on a bit of highlighter just to keep it all looking sweet. This paticular shade is a bright yet wearable pink tube of gorgeousness. The applicator makes it really easy to apply and oh my, the pigmentation is incredible. It lasts forever and a day!

Bobbi Brown Art Stick in Electric Pink- Although I think that it's slightly falsely named (not exactly electric), I am obsessed with this colour and formula. It is so long lasting. It is a muted yet bright rosy pink. Did that make sense? I was a bit creeped out by the smell the first time I used it, it actually smells like a crayon. I can certainly overlook that tiny con. I really want to try to check out some of the other shades.

MAC Lady Danger- This one is without a doubt my absolute favourite! I have already featured this in a post, twice means it's true love. It's the perfect summery orange toned red. I recommend this to everyone!

Revlon Colourburst Matte Balm in Showy- Another range obsession and I don't think I'm the only one. This shade is a cool toned bright pink with blue undertones. It is incredibly easy to wear, it's especially good for those lazy days where you feel haggered but want to look put together. I wouldn't call it a matte-matte, it's more of a satin-matte. Surprisingly moisturising too.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Hot Pepper- This is basically a more glossy version of Lady Danger. Serious dupe right there y'all.

MAC Speed Dial- I love a good cremesheen. Another blue toned pink, but this time it's a bit more sheer. Perfect for everyday, but also quite buildable. I haven't met anyone that hasn't been impressed by this one, it's a crowd pleaser.
