My Heart...

My heart has been incomplete since 5th January 2005. That was the day that I lost my best friend, my Mom. Some of you may not have the slightest interest, but this is my blog and I don't just want it to be 'I love this lipstick' or 'I hate this eyeshadow', I want it to be personal. My Mom is still a massive part of my life and I don't feel that someone truly knows me until they hear a little bit about her. If it doesn't interest you then click off and wait for my next post :)

She was a single Mother/Superwoman. Raising my sister and I was not an easy task, we fought pretty much 24/7. She never showed any sign of struggle. She was the type of person that literally everyone loved, she was everyone's friend. If anyone had a problem, they would go to her, she just had a way of making people feel better. She was spontaneous, loving and inspiring. Unfortunately she suffered with cancer for quite a few year before she surrendered her battle. Caring for my Mom at such a young age was exhausting and heart breaking, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. She had taken such good care of me in my life, how could I not have returned the favour? Up until the very end I never heard her complain, that is a sign of true strength in my opinion.

Do I think about her every second of every day? No, because life goes on. However I will see or hear something that reminds me of her and my heart sinks. I sometimes worry that I will forget what she sounded like, but then I realise that doesn't matter. What matters is that I remember the unconditional and overwhelming love that she had for me. Memories last a lifetime.

I can only hope that I become half the woman's that she was. Her passing left many in devastation, it's comforts me knowing that she lives on in their hearts.

Sorry for the downer post, that was not my intention at all. I don't want anyone's pity or attention. I just want to be honest.

Makeup Storage

Evening ladies! (Maybe gents too)

One of my favourite posts/videos to see is makeup storage and collections. I get inspiration from them for my own storage. Plus I think you can get to know someone by having a mooch through their pride and joy. Do I think my collection is excessive? Yes, but it has been collected gradually and it's something that I truly love. Also, I work hard for my money so I will spend it however I see fit.

Where are things from?

Revlon Colorburst Matte Balms

Several posts ago, I reviewed one of the Revlon lacquer balms. I wasn't wowed by the lacquer range, but the matte balms are another story! I now have five shades and I love them all. I do have my eyes on a couple more of the shades, so don't be surprised if you see them pop up on her soon.

I am a matte lip kind of girl, you will rarely find me wearing a gloss. The matte balms are highly pigmented and very easy to apply. They don't dry down to a completely matte finish like traditional matte lipsticks, but I don't mind that. Now let's get down to the colours. As you will be able to tell, I like bright lips.

Elusive, Showy, Audacious, Striking and Standout (L-R)

Elusive- A lovely wearable rosy pink. Once applied, I tend to dab this with my finger to give an even more natural look.

Showy- An extremely bright and pigmented intense pink. Not my normal kind of colour but it's stunning.

Audacious- Summer in a lipstick! An exact dupe to Macs Morange. The slight red tone makes this orange lipstick wearable without looking like Gisele.

Striking- A bright postbox red. I think this is the one that I will use the most. I don't see the point in saving a red lipstick until a night out rock it everyday I say! This is the type of shad that you just have to whack on some mascara and you're done.

Standout- A classic rich red. More of an autumn/winter shade so I will be making use of it until the sun decides to stay out. (Although the sun is currently beaming through my window as I write this, crazy British weather!) This shade will complement every skin tone and make teeth look whiter. What more could you want? It is so similar to Russian Red from Mac.

I can't rave about them enough. The pigmentation is seriously impressive for a high street brand. They also have great staying power. These balms are a matte lip lovers dream.

Have you tried them yet?

The Lust List: Beauty Edition

Next up in my Lust List series is beauty.

As you will be able to tell I do tend to sway towards the high end products. Let me know in the comments what products you are lusting after.

Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow quad in vintage vamp is possibly the most gorgeous thing I have ever seen! I own the Dolce Vita palette, so I know that her products are impeccable quality. At £38, it’s the kind of purchase where you hand over your card with your eyes closed, but totally worth it in my opinion. The purple tones will look lovely with my green eyes. That’s it, I’ve convinced myself! This is definitely next on my shopping list.

Every beauty blogger and their dog raves about the Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation. I have tried a sample but I don’t think it quite worked on my combination skin. I have since heard that the lasting silk UV foundation might be better on my skin type. So I definitely want to try to grab a sample next time I’m in Selfridges.

Probably the most expensive lipsticks on the market at £36!!!! It seems absolutely crazy but the Tom Ford Sheer lip colour in Paradiso is seriously tempting me. Everything from the gorgeous packaging, to the beautiful texture just screams pure luxury. I am lucky enough to have been bought a Tom Ford lipstick for my birthday last year by my friend Jasmin. Sometimes I just sit and stare at it, it’s a thing of beauty.

When Chanel bought out their cream blushes in summer last year, everyone went crazy for them. I wanted to wait and see if they were worthy of the hype. I peruse the Chanel counter, looking at them longingly. The shade Affinite always seems to jump out at me.  And let’s just take a moment to appreciate the packaging.

I love trying out new mascaras but I have never delved into any of the Dior offerings .Diorshow Iconic mascara in black is one that is talked about a lot. It also has my signature plastic brush.
