Tea anyone?

A couple of weeks ago I was lucky enough to be taken to Netherstowe House in Lichfield for afternoon tea. I must be old before my time, as at 22, this is my idea of fun. Spending the afternoon with two of my best friends and a never ending flow of Earl Grey is ideal. It is a beautiful place and everything was delicious! I highly recommend it if you're local.

Me time

As sad as it sounds, I have a routine that I stick to pretty much every Sunday night. It's my way of making sure that I am prepared for the week ahead, both in body and mind.

I usually spend Sunday afternoons at home with my family, so I use this as time to give my skin a breather from makeup. My routine starts with a quick cleanse using the Clinique Take The Day Off cleansing balm, just to give me a nice fresh face ready for the next steps. For everyday, I keep my skincare quite simple but this is different, I like to pile on the products.

The first product in this extensive list is the Origins Make A Difference Plus Rejuvenating treatment lotion, which I use with a cotton pad as a toner. It removes any scraps of makeup or oils that I might have missed with my cleanser. Then comes the ever famous Hydraluron, could this have been spoken about any more? I do notice a difference in my skin when I use this, but I don't like to use it everyday because although my skin gets dehydrated, it is mainly combination. Next I use the Ren Active 7 Radiant eye gel, just to keep that area hydrated and prevent any dark circles or puffiness. I will treat my blemishes with the Skin Anti Blemish Intensive Spot Lotion. The next step is my new discovery, thank to Amelia Liana. I put a few drops of the Clarins Lotus face Treatment Oil in the palm of my hand, rub my hands together, then pat the product onto my face. It is incredible! If I had to pick one product out of my skincare routine that I had to recommend, it would be this one. I then finish up with a slick of the Nuxe Reve de Miel, which is a bit thick to use during the day, but is perfect to add some intense moisture to the lips overnight. I then let everything sink in for about half an hour, before adding a thin layer of the Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight mask. Holy grail product? Hell yes!

My name is Aimee and I am obsessed with candles. I like my room to look and feel really cosy. So I light all of my candles and put on my Moroccan style fairy lights. My favourite at the moment is the Yankee Candle Black Cherry. I have bought some Laura Mercier candles from the Space NK sales and have vowed not to use them until I have used up my others, but do I have the willpower? I highly doubt it.

What would I do without Bloglovin? It's probably my most used app on my iPad. I like to catch up on my favourite blogs whilst all cosy in bed with a blanket and a cup of Earl Grey. My favourite bloggers are Anna from Vivianna does makeup, Gh0st Parties, Essie Button, Lily Pebbles, Amelia Liana and Beauty Crush. I have recently discovered Simply Steadman and Student-stylexo, which I am also loving!

Over the last couple of years, blogs have replaced books for me. So I have decided this year to read more books. I am currently reading the new Bridget Jones book, I won't talk about it too much just in case anyone is yet to read it.

So that was my current Sunday night routine. Extensive I know, but it think it's crucial to have some 'me time' to keep you at your best. If you have any book recommendations please leave them in a comment below.

New Year, New Blog

I started a blog late 2013, having considering doing so for quite some time. However I wasn’t quite happy with the quality of the content so I have decided to have a fresh start and create Aimee Loves. I will mainly be doing beauty related posts but I really want to throw in some random posts just to keep things interesting, such as baking, personal and dare I say fashion. I want it to be a space of creativity and passion, not just reviewing the latest foundation. I am hoping to get my friends involved so that you’re getting information and recommendations from all types of people. I already have so many ideas in my head, I can’t wait to get started!

2013 was a year of being complacent. I am determined to make this year different. I have made quite an extensive list of goals for 2014, I am not going to call them New Year’s resolutions, who knows if I will stick to them but I surely intend to. I have listed them below so that I can look back in a year and think ‘yes I did that!’ or ‘maybe this year’.

-Travel more, even if it is just to see more of the country that I live in.
-Have the best time when I go to New York in October.
-Not let things get to me so much.
-Spend more quality time with my good friends.
-Print out more photos.
-Cut people out of my life that aren’t good for me.
-Do more for charity.
-The obvious…lose weight.
